Cheyenne Is A Railroad Town
Did you know that Cheyenne all but owes its existence to the Union Pacific Railroad? In the mid-1800s, the railroad announced plans to build a township next to the railroad’s crossing of Crow Creek that would serve as the headquarters for its mountain region. Once settled, the locals all got together and named it Cheyenne as a salute to the American Indian tribe who lived in the area. To this day, it still serves as a significant way stop for the trains that cross the country, carrying freight and goods all across America.
